Throw rugs and matching pillows by Valori Wells

Peking Handicraft Inc. (PKI), added to its rug and pillow collection with the Bloom series by Valori Wells. Comprised of two rug and pillow designs, the series showcases an oversized flower pattern, like that of a magnified carnation, with a multi-dimensional appearance.

The series is offered in two rich colorways, cobalt and cocoa. The cobalt pieces boast four eye-catching shades of blue and tan on a pale blue background, while the cocoa set presents charming shades of brown, tan and orange on a beige background.

The wool and cotton blend rugs feature three different sized, seamlessly overlapping blooms and are available in two sizes, 4 feet x 6 feet and 3 feet x 5 feet. The complementary wool-and-cotton blend pillows (18 inches by 18 inches) feature a single, large bloom design.

The Bloom series, and other new products, can be seen during the New York Home Fashions Market, Sept. 19 to 23 in the Peking Handicraft showroom (suite 912) at 7 W 34th Street.

Area rugs for Halloween and winter

Peking Handicraft Inc. will debut a variety of new rugs at markets in Dallas, Atlanta, New York and elsewhere. The latest introductions include seven hook rugs, both Halloween and winter season-inspired, designed by the company’s newest licensee, Scott Church.

Six of the seven pieces created by Church are winter-holiday inspired and feature animals both familiar and foreign to holiday décor. These colorful, fashion-forward designs include a zebra amidst falling snow, three penguin kings bearing gifts, elephants carrying a Christmas tree, and a hedgehog pulling a sleigh of gifts. Church also offers more traditionally-themed creations, which feature snowmen and dogs.

Additionally, Church has designed a playful Halloween rug showcasing trick-or-treaters in their costumes making their way through a patch of trees littered with jack-o-lanterns and a large, orange moon lightening their way in the background.

Hand-knotted rugs from around the world

Zaki Oriental Rugs is a source of high-quality hand-knotted rugs from around the world. The company has 14,000 rugs on display at 600 South Main St., High Point, N.C. All sizes, as large as 17 feet by 28 feet, are in stock. A recent addition of 4000 Oushak, Zigler, Kazak and contemporary rugs has made the collection even more diverse. Wildcat Territory showed new top-of-bed designs at this month's High Point furniture market. The "vast majority" of its products are made in the USA, the company says.

According to a company press release: “We are seeing a growing interest and awareness among consumers now in where the products they buy are made,” says Nancy Reib, Wildcat Territory president. “For companies like ours, this is a very positive trend. Wildcat Territory has been committed to manufacturing in America since launching our company some 15 years ago, and it’s one of the core values that I believe has set us apart in the marketplace.”

While Reib admits that it’s nearly impossible to create textiles from start to finish with 100 percent American-made materials today, she makes a point of working with domestic mills to develop exclusive fabrics and color-ways whenever possible. This Market, Tristan, a fabric woven in a pattern developed by Wildcat Territory in a pale silvery gray and cream, is a prime example of this approach.

Wildcat Territory also showed 40 new, high-quality rug designs that coordinate with its bedding collection, produced in partnership with Delos.

Colorful handmade rugs, carpets from High Point market

The Creative Touch is showing its “Patchwork rugs” and “Retro-dyed” carpets collections at the High Point Market. The handmade rugs are hand-knotted vintage carpets brought to life by intense colors. They come in different chromatic compositions and can be custom made in many sizes. Because old rugs are reused to create new ones, these can be considered “sustainable.”

Furnishings bring color to the home

Colorful furniture, area rugs, bedding and pillows from Company C will be shown at the New York International Gift Fair. The company uses silk, velvet, high-twist yarn, robust wool, embroidery and beads. Find out more about Company C on its blog.

Fresh, pretty home decor

This diamond cotton rug is new from tag ltd. The rug, measuring 24 inches by 36 inches, is available in teal, black, gray and blue. It can be machine-washed on the gentle cycle and line dried.

The Easter egg glass vases are 3 inches tall. Note the fused-glass details. Other new glassware from the company includes tulip-green votives, cheese domes and vintage glass jar drink dispenser.

Design bloggers have their say at NY gift show

The Bloggers' Choice Awards are presented semi-annually to exhibitors in Accent on Design, one of 10 divisions of the New York International Gift Fair. Area rugs

Capel Rugs is introducing new area rug designs at next month's furniture market in High Point. The Orchard House rug (above) is from the Biltmore For Your Home line. It is hand-tufted in India. This rings style come in colorways of maize, flax and persimmon. Another style is available in honey, blue sprice and barley.

Graphique (above) features hand tufting and carving. It is made of wool and viscose.

Woodcut (above) is a Jane Seymour design, made in China of 100% wool.
