Press release
The University of Georgia Center for Agribusiness and Economic Development announced that Braswell Food Company is a 2012 Flavor of Georgia Food Contest finalist in two categories. The company's Braswell's Select Smoky Chipotle Mustard was selected in the Jams, Jellies and Sauce Category and the Braswell's Apple Cinnamon BBQ Sauce was chosen in the BBQ and Hot Sauce Category. Braswell's is the only company to have two products selected in this prestigious competition.
The Braswell's Select Smoky Chipotle Mustard is an intense premium mustard that is boldly infused with a perfect blend of chipotle peppers, horseradish and white wine. The product was developed in 2011 and immediately caught the attention of the gourmet food world, winning a prestigious NASFT Fancy Food Show Finalist award for Outstanding Condiment. Professional chefs and amateur flavor enthusiasts use this piquant mustard in everything from chicken salad, deli sandwiches and as an accompaniment to crab cakes, pork tenderloin or roast beef. Braswell's Select Smoky Chipotle Mustard is beautifully packaged in reusable European drink ware that customers can use over and over again. It's delicious, elegant and earth-friendly!
Braswell's Apple Cinnamon BBQ Sauce is a heavenly combination of premium apple cider vinegar, warm cinnamon and just the right touch of smoke flavor. This unique combination of flavors makes this sauce a wonderful complement to chicken, pork and seafood. Many chefs use Braswell's Apple Cinnamon BBQ Sauce as their "secret ingredient" for unbelievable baked beans and it can also be used as a dipping sauce.
"We are flattered to be a finalist in two categories of the 2012 Flavor of Georgia Food Contest. Georgia is known throughout the world for its' amazing culinary traditions and to have our products recognized for excellence by this esteemed panel of food experts is quite an honor," says Braswell Food Company president Andrew Oliver.
The Flavor of Georgia contest casts the spotlight on delicious, original food from right here at home. Categories include barbecue and hot sauces, confections, dairy products, meat products, snack foods, jams, jellies and sauces. Entries are judged based on flavor, best use of Georgian ingredients, Georgia theme, unique or innovative qualities, commercial appeal and originality. Final judging will be held March 12-13, 2012, at the Georgia Freight Depot in Atlanta during the Governor's annual agriculture awareness week.

Wild Hibiscus Flower Co. will introduce an exclusive, limited-edition food at the Atlanta gift show in July. The product is "bursting with joie de vivre," says Lee Etherington, the company founder. Each 12.3-ounce jar contains 15 hand-picked wild hibiscus flowers that are preserved in simple syrup scented with the essence of two dozen Bulgarian roses, sourced from a valley where highly prized rose oil hasbeen produced for centuries. The syrup can be mixed with a dry, sparkling wine. The flowers are edible.

Sutton Gourmet Paper offers eight designs of its cupcake baking liners. Each set of 50 baking cups is packaged in a round, clear plastic container. The container protects the shape of the liners so they bake perfectly. The company also sells in bulk to bakeries and professionals, as well as provides wholesale tubs to culinary retailers. It is a new exhibitor at next month's Housewares Show in Chicago.
Company founder Kellie Sutton says cupcake baking liners need to be "colorful, grease-free and look beautiful using only one liner. Our whites stay white, the colors are vibrant and the designs are crisp."
